Welcome to Cafe Oguisso

377-1 Miyagase, Kiyokawa, Aiko District, Kanagawa 243-0111, Japan

General Info

Tucked away in the peaceful area of Kiyokawa, Kanagawa, Cafe Oguisso feels like the kind of place you discover once and keep coming back to. The location itself adds to the charm-quiet, scenic, and far from the rush-making it a perfect spot for a relaxed brunch or a slow afternoon coffee break.

From the moment you step in, the atmosphere leans cozy and welcoming. The menu is simple yet thoughtfully curated, focusing on comfort food done right. One of the standout items I tried was the ふわふわ天使のたまごサンド. It truly lives up to its name-soft, airy, and incredibly satisfying. Paired with a drink set (ドリンクセット サンドイッチ ドリンク), it becomes a balanced and filling option that works well for both brunch and a light lunch.

If you’re someone who appreciates desserts, this cafe delivers more than expected. The チーズケーキ is rich without being heavy, while the ガトーショコラ brings a deep chocolate flavor that feels indulgent but not overwhelming. What keeps things exciting is the rotating 今週 の スイーツ です, which adds a sense of surprise to every visit. It’s a small detail, but it makes the experience feel fresh each time.

Service-wise, the cafe keeps things straightforward. It’s cash-only, so it’s good to come prepared, but in return, you get quick and friendly service. The takeout option is convenient, especially if you want to enjoy your sandwich or dessert outdoors. There’s also a free parking lot, which is a big plus considering the more remote location.

Another highlight worth mentioning is the tea selection. Whether you’re pairing it with a dessert or just enjoying a quiet moment, the variety complements the overall experience nicely. It’s clear that attention has been given not just to the food, but also to how everything comes together-from menu choices to service flow.

Looking at reviews and overall impressions, Cafe Oguisso stands out as a place that values simplicity and quality. It doesn’t try to be overly trendy or complicated. Instead, it focuses on delivering a consistent, enjoyable cafe experience that feels genuine and relaxed.

What customers say?

“ I visited around 4pm on a weekday evening. I was able to spend a relaxing time at this cafe overlooking the lake. There were few customers at the time, so I was able to enter without having to wait, and the staff were very friendly and it was a very comfortable atmosphere. The cafe latte was delicious, but the egg sandwich that came with it was so good I'll never forget the taste. I highly recommend it! I'll definitely visit again if I'm passing by^^ ”

“ This is a place I've always wanted to try when I go hiking. It's a cafe with a beautiful view of the lake in the morning, so I went for the first time, but it seems to be crowded on Sundays. Most of the sandwiches and cakes were sold out, but the cheesecake, coffee roll cake, coffee, and plum soda were all delicious. The cheesecake in particular was rich and tasted like Basque cheesecake. The plum soda was also unlike anything I'd ever tried, with finely chopped fruit and absolutely delicious. ︎ Not only was the view and atmosphere great, but the food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. It was the perfect cafe. It's close to home, so I'd like to go there once a week. ”

“ Nice selection of sandwiches and deserts. Counter seats have amazing view of the lake. It is advisable to make reservations on weekends and book the sandwiches you want to eat, as they make limited quantity and they run out pretty soon. ”

“ Your sandwiches and coffee are served lavishly using Western-style tableware and cutlery from luxury brands around the world. The carefully and luxuriously made sandwiches are delicious, as expected. With all due respect, they're nothing like the sandwiches you'd find at an average cafe. The sweets have all been carefully researched and are excellent, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. In winter, you can relax at a solid wood table or a counter table with intricate tile work, listening to the crackling of the wood stove and quiet jazz. The restrooms are spacious and beautifully maintained, with a planetarium projected on the ceiling. This isn't just a place to drop in when you're in Miyagase, but a place you come to Miyagase specifically to visit. The owners and their staff are all very kind and courteous. Sandwiches require a lot of preparation, and there's a limited number available, so you can get one if you arrive at 11:30 AM when they open. However, to be safe, I recommend choosing a menu item on their website and calling to make a reservation for either 11:30 AM or 1:00 PM. August 2025: Since being featured on Meshidora, it seems like the number of customers has increased again. If you're planning to come, it's best to make a reservation! In October 2025, they started serving chestnut sweets, so I visited. ^_^ In January 2026, they started serving strawberry-covered chiffon cake, so I visited. ”

“ It’s very calm and away from the crowd. It’s a gem nobody will hear about but come here if you want to see a nice view of the lake Miyagase ”
